    Hi David,

I’ve been working as a freelance copywriter for a number of years but long for a job in which I’m not tied to a desk and one that allows me to work outdoors. I’ve always been fascinated by plants and feel like now is the time to change direction and turn my passion of gardening into a new career that will be more fulfilling.

Over the past year I’ve been studying on an RHS Level 2 Principles of Horticulture theory course and I’m about to start the practical course with one day at college.

I’m in my late 40s and don’t have any gardening work experience. I have heard that gaining any gardening experience, whilst studying, through volunteering is the way to go to help future job prospects. My long term aim is to work as a gardener on a estate or working for a garden design company.

I live in the east midlands and was just wondering if you have any advice and pointers you could give me on any possible opportunities I could take up, in order to gain valuable gardening experience?

    Thanks.

    Simon

    Hi David,

I want to bump this post, because I am really interested in this opportunity. I have a little garden with the flowers and veggies, but I think it is not enough to become a professional gardener.

    Thank you for your attention.
